brooklyn in bellport and russians in southampton
by DonavanIt’s Wednesday which means that a contingent from LIBME will be congregating informally at Deks in Rocky Point for a few pints. I’ll be there from 7 to around 9. If you want to drop in, you are welcome to. If you don’t know us, just ask at the bar for Donavan or Rich. They know who we are.
On Saturday the 16th, Brooklyn Brewery will be at Bellport Beer for a tasting event. Beers on slate for that afternoon include the Brooklyn Extra Brune. It starts at 1 pm and runs until about 5pm.
After that you could head out to the Southampton Publick House for their release of a limited edition Russian Imperial Stout. According to the brewery: “The Southampton Imperial Russian Stout will only be available at the Southampton Publick House for a limited amount of time; there are only 250 bottles that are released. It retails for $12 a bottle.” The release party starts at 7 pm and will run until 9.
The next meeting of B.E.E.R. Long Island’s home craftbrewing club will be Monday evening the 18th (note that the date on the club website for this meeting is incorrect). The location is the Brickhouse Brewery in Patchogue. The meetings usually start around 8 pm, but come early for a social hour at the bar before heading upstairs for the meeting.
If you want to head into Brooklyn, the 14th Tri-Annual ‘Cask Head’ Cask Ale Festival will take place Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th February 2008 at The Brazen Head, 228 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.

I hope to be at Dave’s Bellport Beer for the Brooklyn Tasting. Maybe I should buy another growler for Dek’s?

The brewers are going to have to start giving you commission on all the taps you populate at Deks. Don’t forget that the Rocky Point Brewery is doing a 20+ gallon batch that day. I’m sure the brewers would be happy to see you whether you are bearing Brooklyn growlers or not. Cheers!
